Shpend Ahmeti, A.U.K. professor, wins Prishtina Mayoral election

Shpend Ahmeti, Public Policy professor at A.U.K., won the local elections for Mayor of Prishtina in a scheduled second round of voting on Sunday, December 1, 2013. In the first round, professor Ahmeti, from Levizja Vetevendosje, was the second most voted candidate, after the current mayor of Prishtina, Mr. Isa Mustafa. However, in the run-off Mr. Ahmeti won the elections with 51.73% of the votes.
Shpend Ahmeti, a Harvard graduate, started working in A.U.K. since 2005 in the Public Policy and Governance unit. He has been teaching Foundations of Public Policy and International Political Economy.
A.U.K. wishes professor Ahmeti a successful journey as mayor of Prishtina.
