The primary objectives of our summer program at AUK are to provide undergraduate and graduate students unique opportunities to learn about national and regional peace-building, post-conflict reconstruction, democracy-building, economic development in transitioning societies, and the prospects for regional co-operation in the “living laboratory” of Kosovo. Our educational vision is to provide an unequalled intellectual setting for students to interact with a mixture of international scholars, regional experts, governmental practitioners, and individuals who have lived through the Kosovo conflict and its aftermath.
The goal of our curriculum is to bridge the gap between theory and practice relative to the myriad of challenges associated with international intervention, conflict transformation, and ultimately peace, security, and development Kosovo. In an age replete with dramatic misunderstandings and intolerance among the world’s peoples, cultures, and religions, particularly involving the West and the so-called Islamic world, the Balkans in general, and Kosovo in particular, provide unusual opportunities to learn significant lessons about post-conflict transitioning, nation-building, peaceful co-existence, interdependence, and the mutual benefits of transnational, inter-ethnic, religious, and cultural toleration, sustainable development, democratization, regional co-operation, economic development, and for the countries of the Balkans, accession into the European Union.
Come experience a post-conflict area that is both safe and fun.
