Academic, Research & Training > Academic Support Center
The Academic Support Center (ASC) is devoted to providing academic assistance for students enrolled at AUK. The primary focus of the ASC is to provide assistance in developing English writing and/or math skills. Each quarter, the ASC will also provide special workshops.
The ASC is located in Room 403. For hours of operation, please check the notice on the door for any given quarter, or call the office at the number below.
Students needing assistance must sign up for a time slot. There are two binders (one for English another for Math) located on the table outside the ASC; students should print their name in a 20-minute time slot that best fits their schedule, preferably one or two days before an assignment is due. Students are helped on a first-come-first-served basis.
Our staff consists of four tutors, who are AUK students with an excellent grasp of the English language. Each tutor has successfully completed freshman math and writing courses and has received training conducted by the ASC coordinator.

USAID World Learning Tutoring Program
The primary goal of this program is for specially selected AUK tutors to assist Eqrem Cabej High School students in developing English language proficiency and study skills.
AUK tutors meet twice a week with their tutees and take responsibility for planning, scheduling, and documenting learning activities. AUK tutors also serve as mentors and help the high school student direct time and energy productively to avoid common academic pitfalls and barriers.
In December 2008, in conjunction with World AIDS Day, the group held an AIDS Seminar to provide basic information about HIV and AIDS, and to raise awareness of the ways by which HIV infection can be prevented.
